Government Motors Now in the Hot Seat?

The news is now out that Government Motors is recalling 1.3 million compact cars in the US, Canada and Mexico to fix power steering motors that can fail.  Does this sound familiar? Well the big difference with Toyota is that GM has not made the media  headlines anywhere, and certainly is not attracting the attention of House and Senate oversight committees.

I have a dream that the owner of Government Motors, one Barack Obama, will be subpoenaed to an oversight hearing, will be grilled for a couple of days on his business ethics, and required to answer under oath. I have a dream that Edolphus Downs will suggest that his company, GM, puts profit before customer safety. I have a dream that Jimmy Duncan will suggest to him that ‘it might be a good idea to put a couple Japanese in the top GM  leadership.”  I have a dream that Ray Lahood will confront  Mr. Obama with the words: “Lookit: Lives are being lost.”  I have a dream that Mr. Obama, bereft of his teleprompter, will yet respond as eloquently as Mr. Toyoda with the words: ” All the GM vehicles bear my name.  When the cars are damaged, it is as though I am, as well.”

Well Dear Readers, even a subject can have a dream about his master, can he not?  Though, just perhaps,  he might be more secure in his life and in his property, were he to hold his tongue!  After all his liberty is already all-but  gone.
