Let the runaway train go over the cliff

With the Grim Reaper as engineer, the runaway train is accelerating towards the fiscal cliff, throttle wide-open and no brakes applied. Eyes black and hollow, thin gaunt face devoid of emotion, and middle finger raised to his wealthy passengers in the front carriages of the train, the Engineer imposes high ransom demands for his human freight and shuts down communications with those who would bargain for their release.

There comes a time in such a circumstance where outsiders must accept reality. The Engineer is indeed out of control. Cheered on by less wealthy passengers in the rear compartments of the train, he intends to release the rear compartments, vacate his engine, and allow engine and front compartments to topple over the cliff, should his ransom not be approved.

One weapon and one weapon only remains under the control of those opposed to the Engineer’s demands. Make sure that the entire train remains coupled. If the runaway engine indeed goes over the cliff, then the entire train must go with it, not just the few front compartments. If the Engineer truly is out of control then this will come to pass. If he retains any element of rationality, then now is the time for him to apply the brakes. If the train wreck indeed occurs then a clear signal is emitted that those who cheer on the Grim Reaper will also reap the fate of those he comes to claim.

The time may well have come for those opposed to President Obama’s ransom demands to signal that all bargaining is over. The train must run its course and go over a fiscal cliff that will claim all federal income tax paying Americans, and many additional Americans who currently do not pay federal income taxes  back into the Clinton era tax environment until genuine debt elimination procedures are put in place. At least, more Americans henceforth  would confront a personal price when public expenditures increase.

Dear Sir; Please find attached a letter that was sent to Senator Kyl of Arizona from the U.S. Department of Justice (FBI) concerning my report of U.S. Passport Confiscation. Although I reported in specific detail to the FBI that my U.S. Passport was confiscated by “Boeing Company” in the country of Saudi Arabia and that I had seven other Vetrans who experience the same fraud and passport confiscation, the U.S. Department of Justice / F.B.I. state they can be of no assistance to me. What is going on here? Should we Veterans who have defended this country in “Time of War” not be afforded “Equal Protection Under the Law?” Have our “Civil Rights” been violated by the Department of Justice? Does defending “Freedom” really mean anything anymore ? Feel Free to use this letter from the U.S. Department of Justice as you wish. Thank you. Sincerely, //Signed// Robin P. The ability to fix this mess does not exist. Republicans are ineffective at communicating and are going to be blamed for almost any compromise. Even if the brakes are thrown and this train fails to go over the cliff, it is only a matter of a short time before the next engine down the line shoves us over the edge.

Compromise is overrated. We learn from our successes and failures. Compromise deprives us of failure as well as success and there is no learning.

I see only two alternatives for the GOP – Rand Paul’s let Obama have whatever he wants and then make sure he owns it. Or Kim Strassel’s – Extend the middle class tax cuts separately to mollify the public and do not negotiate on the rest. On everything else, take a hard line – spending must be cut, either a deal on where to cut or sequestration, Want the debt ceiling raised – $1 of additional debt for each $ of additional budget cuts. Want to tax the rich – if you are really that stupid go ahead.

One of the biggest problems the GOP has is that the democrats are not negotiating in good faith. They could have raised taxes in 2009 when they controlled things, they did not – because they know this is an idiotic idea. The only way Obama and democrats will raise taxes on anyone is if they think they can blame republicans for the consequences.

This is the best time. The consequences of whatever happens now may take a few years to be truly felt. there are 4 years to the next presidential election, plenty of time for the inevitable failure to occur and for the democrats to own the outcome.

Give the left the opportunity to do as they please and they can either take us over the cliff and be held responsible, or they can act responsibly

There is a great deal of wisdom in your comment. It is a great pity that more Americans do not think as you do.
